With a type certificate issued in the spring of 1954, the 310 was the first twin-engined aircraft that Cessna put into production after WWII. The big, bold twin was emblematic of the time, a model unsullied by a marketing ‘name’ from a company finding it’s technological feet with continually improved and steadily refined products.
A true classic, the 310 proved to be immensely popular with over 6300 produced before production ended in 1981. During that time, the aircraft evolved from a five-seater with pressure-carbureted engines to a high-flying turbocharged six-placer with known icing certification.
1975 saw the debut of the 310R; with three-bladed propellers, a lengthened nose with baggage compartment, 5,300lb takeoff weight and 285 hp IO-520-M engines, the 310R was the most numerous variant produced with 1332 built.
Arguably one of general aviation’s most desired light twin-engine airplanes, we are pleased to bring the 310R to a full range of simulation platforms, including FSX and Prepar3D.
Attention to Detail
With a 310R owner on our testing team, nothing but the best would do! We’ve focused all of our energy and talent into breathing life into a genuine classic. From careful, highly detailed modeling both inside and out, smooth custom gauge animations, finely crafted textures and high fidelity sounds recorded from the real aircraft, we’ve ensured that our twin is as close as possible to the real aircraft.
Perfecting a Twin
We’ve paid careful attention to the flight dynamics, with a heavy focus on creating an aircraft that is true-to-life not only in the visual department, but also in the way it handles. The 310R is a powerful and capable aircraft and we wanted to capture an authentic feel to the controls. Hundreds of hours of testing and expert refinement have resulted in a rewarding, yet ultimately enjoyable, flight experience.
Analog or Glass Cockpit
The Milviz 310R comes well equipped with the traditional 6 pack of primary flight instruments alongside a wealth of smoothly animated 3D analog gauges. For our pilots that would prefer to outfit their workspace with modern glass, we’ve included a version of the 310R equipped with a custom G1000 PFD & MFD using the default simulator data.
Third Party Avionics
The Milviz 310R includes our own highly detailed GPS units based on the default simulator data, however we recognize that many of our customers use other popular 3rd party options for replicating the GPS functions. For the 310R, we’ve bundled in compatibility for the most popular avionics addons with multiple configurations available to choose from. Compatible 3rd party avionics include the following:
- Flight1 750 GTN
- Flight1 650 GTN
- Mindstar 530 GNS
- Mindstar 430 GNS
- Reality XP 530 GNS
- Reality XP 430 GNS
Please note that compatibility for the above gauge packages includes support for installation and setup of our product only; use of any of the offered options requires a functional existing installation of the appropriate gauge. In addition, any gauges we list compatibility for are not included with the Milviz 310R.
Use of any 3rd party avionics package in any desired simulator is of course also restricted to the availability of the avionics package for that simulator. Please see the respective manufacturers websites for platform compatibility.
In addition to the options we’ve provided for third party avionics, which pair well with the standard analog gauges included in the 310R, we’ve also included a variation of the 310R outfitted with a G1000 using the default simulator data.
We’ve also included a flat ‘free radio’ version of the 310R, which allows you to install your own gauges (without 3D modeling) in place of the default avionics.
Single Purchase, Multi-Platform Use
The Milviz 310R package now supports a wide range of platforms, in a single, downloadable installer:
- FSX: SP2
- FSX: Acceleration
- FSX: Steam Edition
- Prepar3d v2
- Prepar3d v3
The Milviz 310R package also now includes addon and avionics options that were, at one time, separate purchases. These have now been included as selectable choices at time of product installation. In addition, the 310R installer also has a new format that eases installation, letting the user select which platform to install to, as well as what avionics options are to be installed.
